Kyandulu Elites Youth Group is a well-structured Youth Led Organization established in 2020 in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Culture and Social Services with Nguumo Ward in Kibwezi West Constituency, Makueni County as the local area of operation.
The Organization’s formation was informed by the challenges facing the Community majorly shortage of clean water and climate change.
Further the organization has a mission to empower youth through community
engagement and support by developing their skills, leadership, confidence, values and health and with the vision being to see to it that youth become empowered leaders with skills and
confidence to actively develop self, family and community towards positive change and environmental conservation through responsible climate action measures.
In the struggle to achieve these, the organization started off by setting up a water point in Kyandulu using a public water tank which had not been in use for over ten years yet it was the
nearest the locals could get water. Through member’s contributions, the water point was later on enlarged to not only make use of the existing water tank but also another plastic water tank as the existing one couldn’t meet the water needs of a community that had for so long depended on
costly water ferried from afar. In addressing the dire need of the community for water, the organization sought help from Next Level Grant Facility (NLGF) in 2024 and was assisted in
strategically setting up three more water points within Nguumo Ward. In fostering responsibility of individual members, the organization purchased goats for each member which up to date have greatly multiplied.
As part of responsible climate action measures, the organization has donated and planted trees in several schools including Kyandulu Primary School, Ngw’iwa Primary School, Nguumo Primary School among others. The organization has actively taken part in restoration of
Mbuinzau Hill through seedballs broadcasting twice every year since formation and has always partnered with other well-wishers with a similar mission. To enhance Climate actions, the
Organization has partnered with Voices for Just Climate Actions (VCA) for responsible climate actions which has seen to it that thousands of seedlings have been planted. In June 2025, during the World’s Environment Week, the organization partnered with HIVOS, an NGO also dealing with Climate Action in Educating the local community on matters responsible climate action,
plastic pollution reduction(2025 World Environment Day Theme: Ending Plastic Pollution) and management, sustainable dry land agriculture, cleaned Kiunduani Market and planted over 500 seedlings in designated areas, donated thousands of seedlings to the community and schools and crowned the week with broadcasting over 300kg of seedballs in Mbuinzau Hill.
The Organization remains focused in Climate Action measures and solving community needs through own means and partnerships.
